Fabulous French
This half term we have been learning the days of the week and food vocabulary. We have put all this learning to practise by reading 'The Hungry Caterpillar' in French and creating our own simple versions. Here are some photos of the process.

Welcome Miss Ainsworth
Miss Ainsworth will be working in Class 6 for the next few weeks, she is student teacher on placement from Leeds Trinity University.
This week's newsletter
This week we have been getting to grips with mental
calculation methods for addition and subtraction in Maths and we are learning
to recall our number facts quickly to help us with this. In English we have
been looking more deeply into how to write persuasive paragraphs and have also
focussed on the correct grammatical terms to use to build an impressive
persuasive argument. In Science we have written explanations of how the
circulatory system works. In French we created out own versions of La chenille
qui fait des trous (ask the children what this is!) After finishing our work on
perspective, the children were very excited to see the progress they had made
from September – examples will be on the website soon!

This week's newsletter paragraph
We have another busy week in class 6 and the children are
now getting to grips with the high expectations of work and pace in this year
group. We have continued our work on large numbers in Maths and have been
rounding these numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, 10,000, 100,000, 1,000,000
and 10,000,000! How amazing are we? In English we have been writing persuasive
letters in pairs, imagining that a factory was going to be opened on the site
of Marrick Priory! We have produced some very passionate writing! In PE we have
begun our unit on netball as well as continuing Tag Rugby and in Science we
have been getting our heads around how our heart works. We also continued to
work on getting perspective into our drawing, this week focussing on buildings.
Our confidence in French continues to develop, this week reading The Hungry
Caterpillar in French!
