Our Victorian Presentations

Over the past two weeks, Class 6 have been working very hard researching inventions from the Victorian Period. Working in groups, the children gathered information about the invention and its inventor from library books and the Internet. Then they created a presentation to show the whole class and try and persuade me that their invention was the most important of the Victorian age!! The children had great fun and learnt a lot about all the inventions. It was hard to choose a winner as all the children did so well, however thanks to the range of presentation techniques the most persuasive was the group promoting the Guglielmo Marconi's radio. Well done Amber, Kerrie, Kirsty and John!

A special mention went to the group working on the London Underground - as this was a particularly tricky one!! Well done Archie, Ellie, Rebecca and Aidan!

Mrs Sparks

Last week our reading volunteer Mrs Sparks kindly brought in some artefacts to support us in our learning about Victorians. It was fascinating to see some of the objects from Mrs Sparks family members - objects we wouldn't see today such as hooks for fastening buttons on boots, metal plates to polish buttons on uniforms and scarves that served as textbooks for the Navy! Thank you Mrs Sparks!!

Year 6 Workload!

I would like to say a big thank you to all the children who are regularly bringing their homework in on time and sometimes even early (Gaby)!

We have a lot of skills, knowledge and understanding to revise and learn so please try to manage your time carefully Y6. You still need to be outdoors and enjoying time with your friends and family but make sure you fit in time to complete your homework at home too. This will also help to keep your parents up to date with what you are learning about in school.

Mrs Simpson and I have been discussing the possibility of a homework detention session as unfortunately it is the same people who are not taking onboard the advice that they are given.

Thank you for working well with Mrs Batty on Friday afternoon she said you were a joy to teach, well done Year 6!
